Bengaluru: The State High Court on Friday dismissed a petition filed by social activist TJ Abraham seeking a CBI probe into alleged corruption charges against former chief minister BS Yeddyurappa, his son Vijayendra and his close associates.

TJ Abraham, who accused Yeddyurappa, his son Vijayendra and his associates of involvement in the corruption incidents, filed a petition with the Special Court of Inquiry of cases against People's Representatives.

However, the special court dismissed the application on the ground that Yeddyurappa, was in the constitutional post and permission is not granted by governor for probe. Abraham had filed a writ (PIL) in High court challenging the Special Court's order.

The Divisional Bench, headed by Chief Justice AS Oka, while hearing the petition, said that the petition was "filed in the interest of the individual and that it could not be considered as a public interest application" and the application need to be modified. Accordingly, the writ petition was transferred to the single member bench.

The petition was heard today by the bench headed by Justice PS Dinesh Kumar. The petition was dismissed after the petitioner said that it will be withdrawn for technical reasons in the petition.

Complainant TJ Abraham has filed another criminal application for the same. The bench, headed by Sunil Dutt Yadav, has filed an Emergency Notice for all the defendants, including former CM BS Yediyurappa and postponed the hearing to August 17.
