The Sunni-Shia Markazi Chand Committees have appealed to the people to see the Eid ul-Adha crescent tonight. Eid-ul-Adha is also known as Bakra Eid, Bakrid, Eid Qurban or Qurban Bayarami.

Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh): Sunni-Shia Markazi Chand Committees have called on all Muslims in the country to sight the Eid ul-Adha crescent tonight. The date of Eid will be announced after the moon is sighted.

In this regard, the crescent will be sighted from Aishbagh Idgah under the patronage of Maulana Khalid Rashid Farangi Mahali, President of Markazi Chand Committee, Farangi Mahal and Imam Idgah. Eid-ul-Adha is also known as Bakra Eid, Bakrid, Eid Qurban or Qurban Bayarami. A major festival celebrated across the world by Muslims, Bakrid is observed on the tenth day of Dhu al-Hijjah (the twelfth and the last month of the Islamic calendar) as a commemoration of Prophet Ibrahim’s absolute dedication to Allah. He was willing to sacrifice his son Ismael as an act of submission to God. Hence, this festival is also hailed as the 'Feast of the Sacrifice'.
