COVID-19: India records 22,842 fresh cases, 244 deaths

India reported 22,842 fresh COVID-19 cases, 25,930 recoveries, and 244 deaths in the last 24 hours, as per the Union Health ministry.

Hyderabad: A single-day rise of 22,842 Infections and 244 fatalities pushed India's COVID-19 tally to 3,38,13,903 cases and 4,48,817 deaths, as per the Union Health Ministry. The active caseload has declined to 2,70,557, the lowest in 199 days, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 97.87 per cent, the highest since March 2020, the data updated on Sunday showed.

Statistics showed Kerala alone recorded 13,217 cases and 121 deaths in the last 24 hours.

The cumulative COVID-19 vaccine doses administered in the country under the nationwide vaccination drive have exceeded 90.51 crore, said the provisional report till 7 am on Sunday.

The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 3,30,94,529. According to the Indian Council of Medical Research, a total of 57,32,60,724 samples were tested up to October 2, of which 12,65,734 samples were tested on Saturday.
