COVID-19: India logs 24,354 fresh cases, 234 fatalities

India reports 24,354 new COVID-19 cases and 234 deaths in the last 24 hours; active caseload at 2,73,889, as per the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

Hyderabad: A single-day rise of 24,354 Infections and 234 fatalities pushed India's COVID-19 tally to 3,37,91,061 cases and 4,48,573 deaths, as per the Union Health Ministry. The active caseload has declined to 2,73,889, lowest in 197 days, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 97.86 per cent, the highest since March 2020, the data updated on Saturday showed.

Statistics showed Kerala alone recorded 13,834 new cases and 95 deaths in the last 24 hours.

The cumulative COVID-19 vaccine doses administered in the country under the nationwide vaccination drive have exceeded 89.74 crore, said the provisional report till 7 am on Saturday. The ministry said over 5,28,28,050 crore balance and unutilised COVID-19 vaccine doses are still available with states/UTs to be administered.

The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 3,30,68,599. According to the Indian Council of Medical Research, a total of 57,19,94,990 samples were tested up to October 1, of which 14,29,258 samples were tested on Friday.
