India Meteorological Department (IMD) released fresh updates about Southwest Monsoon predicting 'fairly widespread rainfall over Northwest India during the next 5 days. Also, Delhi has a yellow alert for Rainfall from July 10 to July 14.

New Delhi: India Meteorological Department (IMD), on Saturday, released fresh updates about Southwest Monsoon predicting 'fairly widespread rainfall over Northwest India during the next 5 days. Also, Delhi has a yellow alert for Rainfall from July 10 to July 14. In its prediction, IMD stated that the lower-level easterly winds from the Bay of Bengal have further extended northwestwards, reaching up to Delhi, Haryana and East Rajasthan as of July 10. In addition to this, low level relative humidity has also increased over the region.

"Hence, the conditions continue to remain favourable for further advance of southwest monsoon over Delhi, remaining parts of west Uttar Pradesh, some more parts of Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan during the next 24 hours," IMD stated. Conditions are also becoming favourable for further advance of Southwest Monsoon over the remaining parts of the country during the subsequent 48 hours. Under the influence of these conditions, fairly widespread to widespread rainfall very likely over the Northwest India during next 5 days.

Isolated heavy rainfall is going to be very likely over Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan and Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and Uttrakhand from 10th to 13th of July. Over Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and West Uttar Pradesh isolated rainfall will occur during 11th-13th July and over Rajasthan on 10th-12th of July. Apart from this, IMD further added in its statement, "A low pressure area is likely to form over Westcentral and adjoining Northwest Bay of Bengal, north Andhra Pradesh-south Odisha coasts by tomorrow, the 11th July and an east-west shear zone runs in middle levels across Central India."

Under their influence, fairly widespread to widespread to widespread rainfall very likely over Central India (MP, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh and Odisha) during the next 5 days and isolated heavy rainfall very likely over West Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha and Chhattisgarh on 10th and 11th July, 2021. "Due to further strengthening of southwesterly winds from the Arabian Sea and likely formation of a Low-Pressure Area over Westcentral and adjoining Northwest Bay of Bengal of 11th July, enhanced rainfall activity with fairly widespread to widespread rainfall with isolated heavy to very heavy falls very likely along the west coast and adjoining Peninsular India very likely to continue during next 5 days," it further added.

The department said that Isolated extremely heavy falls also likely over the Gujarat region on 11th of July, Konkan and Goa during 11th to 14th of July, over Ghats areas of Madhya Maharashtra on 12th to 14th July, coastal and south interior Karnataka during 11th to 12th of July and over Kerala on 10th July, 2021.
