New Delhi: RSS affiliated Laghu Udyog Bharti and Swadeshi Jagran Manch have opposed the Modi Government's decision to change the definition of Micro Small and Medium Enterprises. The Cabinet Ministers decided to amend the definition of MSME by introducing the 'sale turnover' norm as the basis of definition.
Addressing the media on Thursday, the All India General Secretary of Lagu Udyog Bharti, Govind Lele said that changes like including medium enterprises with Micro and Small enterprises to include service sector and medium sector have resulted in the continued reduction in self-employment.
"It is very important that micro and small industry should not only be protected but also be preferred in the national economic and industrial policymaking, to get demographic advantage and growth of GDP to make the ecosystem more equitable and inclusive," said Govind Lele.
The National co-convener of Swadeshi Jagran Manch, Dr Ashwini Mahajan also supported the move of Laghu Udyog Bharti and demanded that the government should follow the conventional method, give maximum support and reservations to micro and small enterprises.
Laghu Udyog Bharti has demanded to separate Micro and Small Industry policy and exclude the medium sector from the purview of the current MSMED Act 2006 and make it as "Micro and Small Industry Act".
The organisations have further demanded that the defining criterion of Micro and Small Industry should be based only on 'Investment in Plant and Machinery', with limits as micro less than Rs 50 lakh and small more than Rs 50 lakh and less than Rs 500 lakh.
In addition to this, the classification shall be applicable only to 'Indian Ownership and management' industries only.
