Not only these hackers will cause financial loss to the companies, but they are also engaged in destroying their reputations. Surprisingly, the various companies associated with the corporate sector do not even realize that they are being cheated and by the time they get to know about the swindle, they have incurred huge losses.

Cybersecurity expert, Sachin Sharma, who conducted IT Security Audit and Cyber Security Audit for companies connected with the corporate sector in Rajasthan, in a special conversation with ETV Bharat, told us about this new method of trickery being followed by these hackers.

What is mail forwarder?

Cyber expert said, "A cyber hacker can forward the entire e-mail ID of a company to his e-mail ID by adding a forwarder in the e-mail ID of any company. By doing this, the cyber hacker receives all the emails that come on the E-mail account of the company and thus giving him the right to change important data, bills or voice related to the company coming to the mail as per his requirements."

The hacker can also send an invoice or change the details of the bill by using his own mail-id and can send that bill to the company's concerned client. It will look as if the mail has been sent by the company but it is the work of a devious hacker. In such circumstances, clients do not get suspicious and transfer crores of rupees to the bank account provided by the hacker.

Carelessness in E-mail security is an open invitation to hackers

Sharma added, "The increasing negligence of the company in the security option of E-mail is the major reason for the crime. There are many choices in the security option of E-mail which many companies keep disabled due to lack of information."

Also, the antivirus installed in companies' systems is also disabled. This is the major reason why the company's E-mail account is at high risk and cyber hackers easily hack it. Lakh of crores of rupees have been burglarized by these cyber hackers from many companies in Jaipur. However, companies do not allow such incidents of cheating to be made public due to fear of spoiling their reputations.

Hacker’s plans were spoilt because of client's intelligence

Recently, a hacker hacked the E-mail account of a well-known company by putting a forwarder. An invoice of 38 lakh rupees was sent to a client abroad along with information of the company’s bank accounts.

Shortly after the company's E-mail was mailed to the client, the hacker sent a new invoice to the client, in a second mail. In which, sending the details of his own bank account, he asked to deposit the payment in the bank account sent in the second invoice instead of the first one sent by the company.

However, the client contacted the company's officials and inquired about the new invoice and bank account before depositing the payment in the bank account sent by the hacker. The right step taken at the right time helped the company to know that their account was hacked.

This is how you avoid cyber hackers

Cyber Security Export Sachin Sharma said that all companies in the corporate sector should pay special attention to e-mail security to avoid getting caught in the antics of these cyber hackers. Also, they should enable the antivirus in every computer system. At the same time, the companies should not install pirated antivirus on the computer since they would crash making them vulnerable for cyber attacks.
