Former Baran collector Indra Singh Rao, who was arrested by Rajasthan ACB in a bribe case, has refused to give his voice samples. Rao was removed from his post after his personal assistant was held taking a bribe of Rs 1.40 lakh on December 9.

Jaipur: Former Baran collector Indra Singh Rao, who was arrested by Rajasthan Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) on corruption charges, on Monday refused to give his voice samples for forensic tests. Singh's PA Mahaveer Nagar also denied providing his voice samples who had earlier disclosed that he had taken the bribe on behalf of the collector following which investigation against the officer was started.

ACB Director Ramesh Arya said that Indra Singh Rao and his PA have refused to give their voice samples in the court and the duo cannot be forced. Arya said that the ACB team will continue with their investigation.

ACB collected the data of the call recordings between Indra Singh Rao and his PA which needed introspection for further investigation. Rao, who is accused of taking a bribe of Rs 1.4 lakh rupees, was supposed to be present in the court on January 6 but due to lack of evidence, he was not presented. Rao's custody has been extended till Jan 20.

Rajasthan government had removed Indra Singh Rao from his post after his PA was arrested while taking the bribe in lieu of issuing a no-objection certificate (NOC) for a petrol pump.

The director-general of ACB said there was a complaint against the PA that he had demanded the bribe for issuing NOC for a petrol pump.

After verification of the complaint, a team led by Additional SP (Kota) Thakur Chandrasheel arrested the accused PA.

The ACB team recovered the bribe amount of Rs 1.40 lakh from the PA''s office.

Rao, in the initial interrogation, claimed to have accepted the bribe on behalf of the collector. He said that the collector's share was Rs 1 lakh and he took Rs 40,000 for himself.

The ACB team also conducted a search at the residence of the PA.
