Anil Deshmukh case: Delhi HC notice to CBI

The Delhi High Court has issued notice to the CBI on bail plea of ​​accused Abhishek Tiwari in the Anil Deshmukh case. Tiwari and Deshmukh's lawyer Anand Daga were arrested on the night of September 1. On August 18, the Supreme Court had said that the CBI probe against Anil Deshmukh would continue.

New Delhi: The Delhi High Court has issued notice to the CBI while hearing the bail plea of ​​CBI Sub-Inspector Abhishek Tiwari, who is accused of taking bribes for leaking CBI documents during the investigation against former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh.

According to information received, on September 8, the Rouse Avenue Court had rejected the bail plea of ​​Tiwari and Anil Deshmukh's lawyer Anand Daga. During the hearing, the CBI had said that Tiwari had taken an iPhone 12 Pro and other expensive gifts from Daga to give information about the investigation. According to the CBI, Tiwari had gone to Pune in connection with the investigation, where he was given expensive gifts as bribe. In lieu of leaking documents, Tiwari has taken gifts from Daga several times.

According to the FIR registered by the CBI, the investigating officer and CBI DSP RS Gunjiyal and Tiwari went to Mumbai April 6 for investigation against Deshmukh. During the course of the visit, both had recorded the statements of many witnesses, including of Deshmukh April 14. Tiwari had shared several sensitive documents with Daga through WhatsApp. After that an FIR was registered against Deshmukh on the instructions of senior CBI officers.

The CBI had said that Tiwari leaked documents as part of the conspiracy and took bribe in return and this has been happening continuously. Tiwari and Daga were arrested on the night of September 1. On August 18, the Supreme Court had said that the CBI probe against Deshmukh would continue. The apex court refused to quash the FIR registered against Deshmukh, who is facing a number of charges, including illegal extortion.
