Hyderabad: Boney Kapoor, who is in no mood to reschedule Maidaan release date has said that he made efforts to avert the release clash with RRR but met with a formal answer from SS Rajamouli. The filmmaker has also said that the director Rajamouli's stature doesn't need a holiday release or resort to strong-arm tactics.
According to whispers in the industry, one of the reasons behind the RRR and Maidaan release clash is Sridevi turning down Rajamouli's Baahubali. The role played by Ramya Krishnan was first offered to the late actor who had opted for Tamil film Puli over Baahubali. When asked if the rumours have any truth to it, Boney told a tabloid, "There may have been some misunderstandings regarding Sridevi not starring in Baahubali when Rajamouli had offered her that role but I can also confirm that most of the reasons that Rajamouli was given for that by the producers at that time were untrue. I have high regard for Rajamouli as a filmmaker and, frankly, after giving a film as monumental as Baahubali, he doesn’t need a holiday release nor to resort to such strong-arm tactics. This is nothing short of sabotaging and bullying."
