'No celebrations on first anniversary of Ayodhya verdict due to COVID-19'

Citing COVID-19 protocol, the Uttar Pradesh police has banned all kind of celebrations for the first anniversary of Ayodhya verdict on November 9. The police have also said that strict action will be taken against the defaulters.

Ayodhya: The Uttar Pradesh police has banned all kind of celebrations for the first anniversary of Ayodhya verdict on November 9 citing COVID-19 protocol.

As per information, a few organisations were up for celebrating the anniversary of the historical verdict which was pronounced by the Supreme Court on November 9, 2019.

Speaking on this, Deepak Kumar, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), said that there will not be any celebration due to coronavirus pandemic and strict action will be taken against those who organise such events.

"Due to the COVID-19 protocol, no programme can be conducted without permission. We have spoken to all the organisations in the district and assured that they will not organise any kind of event, yet if someone organises secretly then action will be taken against them," he added.

It is to be noted that on November 9, 2019, the apex court had ruled in favour of Ram mandir ending decades-old Ayodhya title dispute.
