Abrogating article 370 may prove disastrous: Arshad Madani

National head of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind, Maulana Syed Arshad Madani said that the situation in the Kashmir Valley could turn better only after negotiations and if the country adopts other methods then it may not be suitable in the long run. Madani stressed that the issues must be solved through proper dialogue.

Saharanpur (Uttar Pradesh): The decision taken by the Modi government of abrogating Article 370 and 35A from Jammu and Kashmir could be disastrous like the US war in Afghanistan. Maulana Syed Arshad Madani, national head of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind, said that no government can succeed while playing with emotions of the people.

Talking to ETV Bharat, Madani said, "We have seen results after the US invasion of Afghanistan following the September 11 attacks in the year 2001. We don't want such kind of things to happen in Kashmir as well."

While expressing his views on the current situation in Kashmir, Madani stressed that all these issues must be solved through proper dialogue.

"Patriotism cannot always succeed. We have seen in the past that the US despite being a superpower, couldn't succeed in Afghanistan through patriotism. Russia also failed there," he added.

Madani said that the situation in the Valley could turn better only after negotiations and if the country adopts other methods then it may not be suitable in the long run.
