Jaipur (Rajasthan): Ahead of the festival of Eid-ul-Fitr which will be celebrated across the world on May 24 and 25, clerics have appealed to Muslims to celebrate the festival at home and avoid shopping and donate the money to the poor instead.

Rajasthan Chief Qazi Khalid Usmani has also issued an appeal to the people regarding prayers on Eid-ul-Fitr. He asked the people to offer prayers at their home, and instead of spending money on shopping, donate for the welfare of disadvantaged.

"It is very important to stay at home to win the battle against COVID-19. Offer Eid and other prayers at home only. Follow the instructions given by the government and the administration," he said.

"Sanitise yourself and your home. Wear the mask and follow social distancing," he further added.

Usmani has also urged people to stay at their home for moon sighting, and if anyone sees the moon inform the Central Hilal Committee regarding this.

Tahir Azad, secretary of Jama Masjid, located in Johri Bazar, Jaipur, has also appealed to everyone and said, "Today the whole world is in the grip of Coronavirus. In Allah's will, we are unable to offer prayers in the mosques. Nobody knows how long this will last. May Allah forgive our mistakes and sins."

"This year we won't get the chance to offer prayers on Jumu'atul-Wida ( last Friday in the month of Ramadan) in Jama Masjid. We have to offer prayer at home just like we have been doing since so many days," he said.
