Kasaragod (Kerala): An ambulance carrying two critically ill patients from Kerala's Kasaragod district to Mangaluru was blocked by Karnataka police on Monday, apparently in the wake of COVID-19 scare, eventually resulting in the death of both patients.

The deceased has been identified as Madhava (45) from Manjeswaram and Aesha from Kunjathur in Kerala.

As per reports, Madava and Aesha were undergoing treatment in Kasaragod, as their condition worsened they were referred to Mangaluru but their ambulance was blocked by the Karnataka police which resulted in their death.

It is to be noted that in the wake of COVID-19 crisis, Karnataka has sealed its border with Kerala as a result of which people in the border villages are facing immense difficulties as they depend on Mangaluru for their medical needs.
