Shivamogga (Karnataka): BJP leader and former minister KS Eshwarappa on Monday claimed to have received a missed call from Kazakhstan. KS Eshwarappa said that a proper investigation should be conducted in this regard and complained to the Superintendent of Police of Shivamogga district on Monday.

Addressing a press conference at Karnataka's Shivamogga district BJP office on Monday, he said, "I received a missed call from Kazakhstan at 12:30 am on Sunday. Recently, the NIA informed me that Jayesh alias Shaheer Sheikh from Maharashtra had planned to kill me. The NIA also said that he is a PFI activist. However, I don't know whose call was that,'' said Eshwarappa.

"Congratulations to all the voters for electing BJP candidate Channabasappa in the Shivamogga city constituency. Though we emerged victorious in a few seats, but secured more voting percentage. Thank you to the people of the state for supporting nationalism, development and leadership," he said.

"In the coming days, we will work as a good opposition and like a watchdog in the state. We will win more seats in the ensuing Lok Sabha elections. We are going to give strength to Prime Minister Modi by giving more seats,'' Eshwarappa said. "An FIR has been registered regarding the pro-Pakistan slogan in Belagavi during the election victory celebrations. Constituency MLA Haseen Shaikh has demanded strict action against those who raised such seditious slogans. Congress has accepted this. As soon as the Congress government came, the Pakistani agents are emerging again," Eshwarappa insisted that the government should take strict action against them.

Eshwarappa announced his retirement from electoral politics after the Karnataka assembly elections were announced. BJP candidate Channabasappa was given a ticket in the Shivamogga city constituency where Eshwarappa was MLA. Channabasappa won by 27,674 votes against HC Yogesh of Congress.
