Ambala (Haryana): As Haryana Assembly elections are slated to be held on October 21, political parties are high on the election fervour.

Be it BJP, Congress or INLD, and various other parties are in full swing in making strategies, election campaigns ahead of the Haryana poll 2019.

Congress party is facing a crisis, not because of its political opponents but because of serious internal contradictions.

Speaking to ETV Bharat, Kumari Selja, who recently became the state president of the Congress explained the strategy and targeted the BJP fiercely.

'BJP formed govt based on lies'

Launching a scathing attack on the Manohar Lal Khattar-led BJP government in the state, Selja said that the saffron party formed the government on the basis of lies.

"Their manifesto had 150 lies. People are furious," she said.

'Tried to give more tickets to women'

On the representation of women, she admitted that though she tried her level best, the number of women who got tickets was still not significantly high.

"I was made the state party chief very recently, but I tried. However, out of the nine tickets in Ambala, four have been given to women," she said.

'Getting positive feedback, Cong will form govt with the majority'

Claiming that the party was receiving positive feedback from the public, Selja expressed confidence that Congress would storm to power in Haryana with a majority.

"We took opinions from all sections of the society for our manifesto. While the BJP fulfilled none of its promises, people have faith in the Congress, as our government has always delivered. We will definitely form the government with the majority," she said.

'Congress leaders should have faith in the party'

Targetting Congress leaders who resigned from the party for not getting ticket she said that people should believe in the party whether they get ticket or not.

"We get identified for the work we do for the party. This should not be like if I got the ticket then only my party is fine, otherwise, I will rebel. Party leaders should not work as per their self-interest but should work for people."

She urged Congress members to come and discuss the matter rather than working for Congress for 5 years and ditching the party 15 days before the assembly elections.

Reaction on CM Khatter's "unparliamentary" remark on Sonia Gandhi

Congress Haryana Chief Kumari Selja expressed her anger by saying that being in such a high post, the statement made by him shows his mentality.

She said "BJP talks about respecting women, but their leaders only insult women." She sought an unconditional apology from Haryana Chief Minister for his 'unparliamentary' comments on Sonia Gandhi.

On asking about the strategies made by Congress to win the election, she said, "We are working on it. Sonia Gandhi is coming on October 18 for meeting and also to address a rally in Haryana's Mohindergarh."

Haryana Assembly election is scheduled to be held on October 21 and the counting of votes will take place on October 24.

A total number of 1,168 candidates will contest on 90 seats in the Haryana Assembly elections 2019.
