The worst riots in the northeast of Delhi in last February not only resulted in loss of life and property but also in the frenzy of sectarianism, miscreants desecrated many places of worship, set them on fire and chanted provocative slogans. Meanwhile, President of Jamiat Ulema-i-Hind, Maulana Syed Arshad Madani said that Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind is a supporter of peace and unity, that is why it does not discriminate religiously in any matter. In the case of the Delhi riots too, we have helped all the victims irrespective of religion and nationality and we are still doing so.

New Delhi: The President of Jamiat Ulema-i-Hind, Maulana Syed Arshad Madani on Monday said that communal riots could not be controlled in the country without making district administration accountable for them but our people would immediately reach the area by contacting the administration and senior police officials.

Speaking to the media persons, Madani said, "Volunteers and members of Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind were helping the people irrespective of their religion during the riots, and wherever any untoward incident was reported, the people of Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind would immediately reach the area by contacting the administration and senior police officials. On the special instructions of Maulana Arshad Madani, Mufti Abdul Raziq, general secretary of Jamiat Ulema-i-Hind Delhi Unit, accompanied by a delegation, rushed there with police, and cleared the mosque from idols and flags."

" Immediately after the riots, the relief team of Jamiat Ulama-i-Delhi became active in the affected areas to provide all kinds of necessities to the helpless people. Relief work started then, is now has completed in two phases. In the first phase, 55 houses and two mosques have been rebuilt, and houses have been handed over to the owners, and regular congregational prayers have also started in the mosques. The construction and repair of the remaining 45 houses have been completed which have been handed over to the riot victims today," he said.

"As a third step, Jamiat Ulama is trying to give legal aid to innocent arrested in a false case of a riot. In this regard, a legal team led by Advocate Chauhan is looking into the whole matter and so far at least 16 people have been granted bail. The President of the Jamiat Ulema-i-Hind has also directed the Secretary, Legal Cell, Gulzar Ahmad Azmi and Advocate Shahid Nadeem, Legal Adviser, Jamiat Legal Cell, to keep a close eye on the matter since this is a sensitive matter," Madani said.

Describing the riots against Muslims in India as a ploy to push back Muslims economically, educationally, socially and politically, Madani, said that Jamiat has helped the victims irrespective of their religion, and it will continue to do so. He said this on the occasion of repairing and renovation of Allahwali Masjid Krawal Nagar and handing over of houses burnt in riots to the victims.

He said that the riots in the north-eastern part of Delhi were horrific and planned, the role of the police and the administration in it has been dubious and several videos of it have gone viral. That is why the number of minority communities among the victims is much higher than we estimated. The loss of life and property was one-sided, but the way religious places of worship were targeted and houses were burnt is enough to show that the riots did not happen suddenly but It was pre-planned.

It is pertinent to be mentioned here that on the direction of the President of Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind, Maulana Arshad Madani, Jamiat Ulama of Delhi has been working since then to rehabilitate the victims of the Delhi riots, and it has been giving the legal aid to the innocent people who were arrested in false cases of riots.

"Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind is a supporter of peace and unity, that is why it does not discriminate religiously in any matter. In the case of the Delhi riots too, we have helped all the victims irrespective of religion and nationality and we are still doing so," he added.
