Indian men's doubles pair - Ramkumar Ramanathan and Saketh Myneni - settled for silver, after they were defeated by the Chinese Taipei pair- Jason Jung and Hsu Yu-hsiou, on Friday, Sept. 29, 2023.

Hyderabad/Hangzhou: The Indian duo of Ramkumar Ramanathan and Saketh Myneni bagged a silver medal after going down 6-4, 6-4 against the Chinese Taipei Pair of Jason Jung and Hsu Yu-hsiou. The Indian pair was not able to hold their serve consistently in the first two sets and have to suffer a loss as a result.

Both sides were holding their serves for the first four games. However, Ramkumar Ramanathan dropped serve in the fifth game and that was the cause of the pair losing the set with a score of 6-4. Ramkumar and Saketh were constantly put under pressure by their opponents and they almost crumbled under it in the third game of the second set when the scores were on deuce. However, they saved two break points and stayed in front with a score of 2-1.

Despite facing relentless attack from their rivals, the Indian duo kept their composure intact and maintained a scoreline of 4-3. But, the resilience of the Indian pair was broken soon and Saketh dropped serve to their opponents. The Chinese Taipei duo of Jason Jung and Hsu Yu-hsiou won gold as a result finished second in the podium.

Indian contingent won't be happy with the performance they have produced so far after bagging three medals in the previous edition of the Asian Games including one gold. The ongoing edition has been a hard toil for the Indian tennis players so far and so the victory by the Indian duo will be a sigh of relief for ensuring that they are not going back home with empty hands. Notably, India have won five gold medals in men's doubles so far in the Asian Games. (with Agency inputs)
