Uttarakhand: Three nabbed for bursting firecrackers on defeat of women's hockey team

Uttarakhand police have arrested three youths for bursting firecrackers after the defeat of Indian women's hockey team in the semi-final defeat in the Tokyo Olympic Games. A case has been registered against three people accused of breaching the peace under sections of the SC-ST Act at Sidkul police station.

Haridwar: Uttarakhand police have arrested three youths for bursting firecrackers after the defeat of Indian women hockey team in the semi-final in the Tokyo Olympic Games. A case has been registered against three people accused of breaching the peace under sections of the SC-ST Act at Sidkul police station.

On Wednesday (August 4), the Indian women's hockey team was competing against Argentina in the ongoing Olympic Games in Tokyo. In the match, Argentina defeated the Indian hockey team by 2-1. The relatives of Haridwar-based hockey player Vandana Kataria have alleged that Vicky Pal, a person living in their neighbourhood, set off fireworks when the team lost.

The local police were informed about the incident. On receiving the information, the police reached the spot and took the accused Vicky Pal into custody.

A case has been registered against the three accused on the complaint of Vandana Kataria's brother. The police interrogated Vicky Pal and later arrested two of his associates.
