Gorakhpur (Uttar Pradesh): Amid the devastating floods in Uttar Pradesh's Gorakpur, a 15-year-old girl, Sandhya Sahani's unbridled courage and determination to make her way for school is receiving applauds. In a video that went viral, the class 11th student can be seen rowing a boat to school.
Sahani, a resident of Baharampur village, was on cloud nine when schools reopened after a gap of over a year following the pandemic. But floods wreaked havoc in Gorakpur, and it became difficult for her to reach the school. Having no smartphones, she devised a plan to reach her school, rowing a boat.
Sahani belongs to a modest family and her father works as a carpenter. The eldest among the four siblings, Sahani, wants to work in railways and travel in planes.

Even though the people in her village do not consider education as necessary, Sahani's parents despite living in poverty, are making every effort for her education. Sahani also wants to pursue her studies to help her family.
Sahani's efforts were lauded by politicians and netizens alike. To meet this brave daughter of Gorakhpur, the National President of Nishad Party, Dr Sanjay Nishad reached her house. Dr Nishad praised Sahani's courage and assured all help to his family. He said that she has become a role model for her fraternity. He also said that he will soon open a separate school for Nishads in every district for the education of girls like Sandhya.
He also said that he will help Sahani to get a hostel and assured all possible help to the family.
