Ahead of the West Bengal assembly elections, there seems to be a tussle between the TMC and the Central government after Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee demanded the Centre to declassify the files which might lead to the unravelling of Netaji's disappearance.

New Delhi: Hitting out at the BJP-led central government for abolishing the Planning Commission conceptualised by Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday said that her government would come up with a similar body to take ahead the national hero''s ideas and vision.

The CM also stressed on her demand that the Centre declassify the files which might lead to the unravelling of Netaji's disappearance.

"We have already declassified (some files). We are demanding that the Centre declassify all files related to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose," she said.

This is not the first time Banerjee has made such a demand. In November, she had urged PM Narendra Modi to take steps to find out what happened to the late freedom fighter and how he reportedly disappeared after a plane crash in Taiwan on August 18, 1945.

Speaking to ETV Bharat, BJP leader Sudesh Verma said that Mamata's love for Netaji is nothing but a political gimmick as everyone knows which party has brought Netaji's laurels to the national fore.

He said that it was the BJP's resolve to declassify Netaji's files and this work was also done by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Verma also alleged that the Bengal CM is using Netaji's name just to take political mileage ahead of the upcoming state Assembly elections.

Notably, Bose's party, the All India Forward Bloc has also been demanding that January 23 be observed as a national holiday.
