Deadline to file Income Tax Returns extended to December 31

Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has extended due dates for filing of Income Tax Returns and various reports of audit for Assessment Year 2021-22 till December 31.

New Delhi: The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) on Thursday extended due dates for filing of Income Tax Returns for the Assessment Year 2021-2022 till December 31.

CBDT decided to further extend the due dates for filing of Income Tax Returns and various reports of audit for the Assessment Year, considering the difficulties faced by the taxpayers on the backdrop of prevailing COVID-19 restrictions and the pandemic itself.

Earlier, the due date for filing ITR was extended from July 31 to September 30, 2021. Also, the due date of furnishing of Report of Audit for 2020-21 has been extended till January 15, 2022.

The due date of furnishing report from accountant by persons entering into international transactions or specified domestic transactions under Section 92E of the IT Act, has been January 31, 2022.

The new extension of dates comes amid issues faced by the Income Tax portal which is managed by Indian IT giant Infosys.
