New Delhi: India once again slammed Pakistan at the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), saying that terrorism continues to post the gravest threat to humankind.
India's ambassador to UN, TS Tirumurti while briefing on 'Threats to International Peace and Security caused by Terrorist Acts' at UNSC said, "Terrorism continues to post the gravest threat to mankind and that India is at forefront of global counter-terrorism efforts."
"Perpetration of terrorist activities from safe havens in Pakistan, including through violent attacks in Afghanistan have disrupted the peace process," Tirumurti stressed.
He called for a need for a forceful and decisive global fight against terrorism and reiterated that easy access to new and emerging technologies have enabled terrorist groups to exploit current conditions.
India further pointed out the links of proscribed terror groups like Haqqani network, Al-Qaeda and Islamic state, etc, with Pakistan. Tirumurti further mentioned that Pakistan authorities have worked along with prominent terror organisations like Al-Qaeda, ISL K, Tehrik-Taliban Pakistan, etc in South Asia.

Particularly active in Afghanistan, the Haqqani network has done enormous damage to the war-torn country.
Moreover, India highlighted that UNSG's report on ISIL should cover activities of terrorist entities under ISIL and Al Qaida sanctions regime like Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammad and frontal organisations that raise funds for their activities.
It also called for the international community to implement an 8-point action plan as rightly pointed by External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar to ensure that terrorism is defeated for good.
India has time and again lambasted Pakistan at different global fora including the UNSC, for its nefarious activities of terrorism emanating from its soil.
India has commenced its two-year stint as a non-permanent member of the 15-nation UN Security Council this January. Ever since, India has shown a willingness and is doing its bit to bring about an inclusive solution to matters of international peace and matters concerning the security of the world as a whole.

India at various global platforms has reiterated its stance for the need of reformed multilateralism and has remained committed to raising its voice against issues like terrorism, human rights violation that is precarious to global security and humanity.
India will be UNSC President in August 2021 and will preside over the council again for a month in 2022
