Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir): A young artist from Srinagar was on Saturday arrested for his graffiti against Israeli action in Palestine.
"Mudasir Gul, a resident of Padshahi Bagh, has been arrested. He had made a graffiti in reference to Palestine," a senior police official said while confirming the development.

"The painting (graffiti) by Gul incited protests in the area and disturbed law and order. Therefore, action had to be taken against him. More details will be shared after the investigation is completed," the officer said.
IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar said, "The J&K Police are keeping a very close watch on elements who are attempting to leverage the unfortunate situation in Palestine to disturb public peace and order in Kashmir. We are a professional force and are sensitive to public anguish."
"But the J&K Police have the legal responsibility to ensure law and order as well. It, however, will not allow cynical encashment of the public anger to trigger violence, lawlessness and disorder on the streets of Kashmir streets. Expressing an opinion is freedom but engineering and inciting violence on the streets is unlawful. All irresponsible social media comments that result in actual violence and breaking of law will attract legal action," he said while urging the cooperation of all citizens.
Yesterday, protests in favour of Palestine erupted in different parts of the city following Friday prayers. The graffiti by Gul showed the face of an elderly Palestinian woman with a slogan "We are Palestine”. The graffiti was later removed by the administration.
Previously, Gul had made several graffiti on the culture and civilization of Jammu and Kashmir.
