Varanasi: At least three persons were killed while six others sustained critical injuries after a pickup van carrying them overturned on Babatpur-Varanasi road under Badagaon police limits in Uttar Pradesh on Thursday.
The deceased have been identified as Nanhu (22), Satyanam(30), Raushan Lal (45) of Kesra village under Gosaiganj police limits in Lucknow.
According to sources, the victims were travelling in a pick-up van to Varanasi this morning for their business work. Suddenly, the driver of the pickup van lost control over the wheels following which it turned turtle killing three on the spot while critically injuring six others.
On being informed about the mishap, local police rushed to the spot and sent the bodies to a nearby government hospital for postmortem. The police have also seized the mangled vehicle from the spot.
Reportedly, the injured persons are undergoing treatment at a government hospital here. Their health condition is stated to be critical, sources added.
