Gorakhpur: High tension prevailed in Jhangaha locality in Uttar Pradesh's Gorakhpur on Wednesday following the double murder case, which took place last Sunday.
According to reports, an unidentified miscreant fought with two brothers in the same area over a trivial dispute. The verbal duel turned violent when the enraged accused pulled the trigger on the duo. Both brothers died on the spot and the accused managed to escape the scene after committing the crime.
Following this, the relatives of the deceased staged a road blockade near the Gorakhpur-Dewria National Highway by burning tyres demanding immediate arrest of the accused.
Irate locals pelted stones at the vehicles which were passing on the Highway. Some vehicles were badly damaged in the stone pelting.
On being informed, police reached the spot and tried to pacify the locals, but in vain. Locals also pelted stones on the police personnel and resorted to vandalism. One platoon of the police force has been deployed at the spot to avoid any untoward incidents.
"Police have registered a case against the absconding accused. A manhunt is on to nab him. We are interrogating one of the friends of deceased," a police official said.
