Cash for votes foiled in Odisha

A village-level worker (VLW) along with several others were nabbed by villagers of Kandapada panchayat in Nayagarh district for allegedly distributing cash to voters on Monday night. The villagers nabbed them and tied them to a nearby tree for the entire night.

Bhubaneswar: Villagers of Kandapada panchayat, falling under the Ranpur block of Nayagarh district, nabbed a village-level worker along with several others, for allegedly distributing cash to the voters, late Monday evening.

According to sources, the villagers not only nabbed them but also tied them to a nearby tree, detaining them for the entire night.

Cash for votes foiled in Odisha

The villagers reportedly seized a Biju Janata Dal (BJD) poster from their possession and further relayed the information to the police.

Further investigation into the matter is underway.
