Sleaze CD Case: PIL in HC seeks transfer of probe to CBI

A Public Interest Litigation (PIL) alleged that the CD case, in which BJP leader Ramesh Jarkiholi was allegedly seen in a purported video, is affecting the functioning of Vidhan Sabha and Vidhan Parishad.

Bengaluru: A Public Interest Litigation (PIL) moved in the Karnataka High Court has sought a CBI probe into the sleaze CD case, in which BJP leader and former Karnataka minister Ramesh Jarkiholi was allegedly seen along with a woman.

Advocate Dr S. Umesh has filed a petition in which the Chief Secretary of the State Government, the Home Secretary, the Union Home Ministry, the Information and Broadcasting Ministry, the State Government-appointed SIT, the Inspector of the Cubbon Park Police Station and the Press Council of India have been named.

The petition alleged that the Jarkiholi CD case is affecting the functioning of Vidhan Sabha and Vidhan Parishad.

"The SIT and Cubbon Park Station police are not conducting a proper investigation as the case took a political dimension. Therefore, the case should be transferred to the CBI to conduct an adequate investigation and identify the culprits. It has been requested that the Central Government should create a special investigation team to investigate the case," the petition read.

The petitioners have requested the High Court to monitor the investigation by directing the media. The media are showing this case as the way they and may this case has a negative impact on children's mental health. Thus, the petitioner appealed to direct the media not to spread the news about the case.

The young woman, who was also allegedly seen in that video with BJP leader Jarkiholi on Saturday again joined an inquiry at 10 AM at Adugodi Technical Centre.

The SIT officers gathered information from the victim lady from 10.30 am to 3 pm. after the inquiry, SIT has taken the woman to a secret place.

The young woman has been under intense investigation for the past four days and police have already gathered enough information about the case. SIT police have collected all the documents and are ready to inquiry about Ramesh Jarkiholi.

Shyam Sunder, a lawyer for Ramesh, said that the former minister did not come due to ill health.

The investigation of young women is likely to come to an end on Saturday. According to sources, the young woman was asked by the SIT team several questions including her connection with those who released the CD.
