Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir) : Listing out the positive outcomes of the G20 tourism working group meeting in Srinagar here, G20 Sherpa Amitabh Kant on Tuesday said there were a lot of challenges but we managed to conduct the meetings with the cooperation of the state and UT governments.
Speaking exclusively to ETV Bharat, Kant said: "The meetings so far have been constructive and positive. Today our road map got approved by the working group and yesterday the tourism filming program got approved. Today, everyone is feeling that tourism, cuisine, and the culture of Kashmir got promoted today."
India, under its G20 presidency, is holding a working group meeting of the international forum in Kashmir. The third G20 tourism working group meeting is currently underway at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC) in Srinagar.
Sharing the inputs on the conducting of the G20 meeting, Amitabh Kant said, "We have a record gathering of delegates here. They are saying that they have not seen a place like Kashmir before. They are planning to visit again with their respective families."
Speaking about the tourism potential of Kashmir, he said: "I feel Kashmir has a lot of scope but we have to move beyond Srinagar, Gulmarg, and Pahalgam. There are many other places but we need a master plan for that. After the master plan, we need to set up a few private resorts there. Tourism is actually a private sector engagement and that's why it should be brought in."
Talking about the implementation of agendas, he said, "International organisations implement the recommendations after consensus. There were challenges but due to cooperation with state and UT governments all meetings were successfully conducted."
