Shortcomings in Poll Management Led to Bad Performance in Haryana Polls, Says BJP's Kailash Vijayvargiya

BJP general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya blamed shortcomings in the "election management" for his party's middling performance in the Haryana Assembly elections.

It would nonetheless be able to form a government again in the northern state, he said.

"I can clearly see the shortcomings in our management of the Haryana elections. The BJP rebels fought elections and we failed to persuade them (to pull out)," said Vijayvargiya.

'Too early to say anything' says BJP on alliance with JJP

While in Haryana BJP led by Manohar Lal Khattar doesn’t have a clear majority, the BJP-Shiv Sena has gone past the majority mark in Maharashtra.

While speaking to ETV Bharat, BJP leader Raman Malik said that the vote margin is low as the voter turnout was less this year. But, still, BJP will win an absolute majority in Haryana and Maharashtra.

BJP spokesperson, Rajeev Jaitly said that JJP has always been against Congress's ideology. 

He also said that the ideologies of BJP and JJP are similar and JJP has always supported BJP, therefore everything depends on the situation.

Former Haryana Congress chief, Ashok Tanwar, who recently quit the party to support Jannayak Janat party in said that the motive with which he entered Haryana elections is seen to be coming true.

Congress leader Kirti Azad expressed hopes for the party garnerning a clear majority in the state of Haryana. 

"We are doing well in Haryana and chances are high that we form the government very soon. Unlike in Goa, Congress must be given upper hand for getting more votes if there is no clear majority. Only then it(election) would be fair," he said.

Congress will get majority: BS Hooda

As counting of votes is underway for the Haryana Assembly elections, former state chief minister and Congress leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda said that his party will get majority in the state.

"Congress ka bahumat aayega (Congress will get majority)," Hooda told media here.

As per the latest trends from the Election Commission, Bharatiya Janata Party is leading on 19 seats in Haryana, followed by Congress at 16, Jannayak Janta Party at seven and four seats for others.

Elections for the 90 seats in Haryana Assembly were held on October 21.

Neither Maharastra nor Haryana are BJP stronghold, but we will win: Says BJP vice president

New Delhi: Admitting that neither Maharastra nor Haryana are BJP stronghold, party vice president Vinay Sahasrabuddhe on Thursday said that the saffron brigade "will definitely form the government."

Talking to ETV Bharat, Sahasrabuddhe said that the election trend at present might show a neck to neck fight with Congress.

"But we are confident of winning both the states as we have peoples support," said Sahasrabuddhe.

Sahasrabuddhe had been in Maharastra and Haryana before the election and did several poll campaign.

"When we came for the first time in both the states there were no BJP wave. But we have BJP support now and definitely we are forming the Government," said the BJP national vice president.

Khattar in Haryana and Fadnavis in Maharastra will form government, claims BJP

New Delhi: Confident over the party's win, BJP spokesperson Naveen Kumar on Thursday said that Devendra Fadnavis and Manohar Lal Khattar will form the government in Maharastra and Haryana.

While speaking with ETV Bharat, Kumar said that there will be repeat of BJP Government in both the states.

"Just wait for a few hours. You will get the result that BJP is again forming the government in both the states," said Kumar.

Kumar was reacting over Haryana poll trend where both BJP and Congress are going neck to neck.

"We will celebrate Diwali today by winning both the states," Mumar added.

Till now in Maharastra BJP is leading by a huge margin where as in Haryana both BJP and Congress are going neck to neck.

Assembly election 2019 results: Who said what?

Jind (Haryana): As counting of votes has begun for Haryana Assembly elections, Jannayak Janata Party (JJP) leader Dushyant Chautala said that both BJP and Congress will not cross the 40 mark in the state and JJP will have the key of the State Assembly.

"Na BJP, na Congress 40 paar karegi, satta ki chaabi JJP (Jannayak Janata Party) ke haath mein hogi (Neither BJP, nor Congress will cross 40 seats. The JJP will have the key to form the government)," Chautala told media here.

"JJP will have the key of Vidhan Sabha of Haryana. Time will tell you more... Haryana wants change," he stated.

Asked whether his party will support BJP or Congress, he said, "Let the result come. We have decided to hold a meeting of MLAs. We will take a decision on this after holding discussions will all of them."

The fate of a total of 1,169 candidates is sealed will be decided today. The state went to Assembly polls on October 21.

According to the office of Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), 1,064 male and 105 female candidates are in the fray.

Ninety candidates are from the BJP, 87 from the BSP, four from the CPI, seven from the CPI-M, 90 from the Congress, one from the NCP, 81 from the Indian National Lok Dal, 375 Independent and 434 other candidates.
