Maoists exploit innocence of tribals in state, Chhattisgarh Governor

Talking to ETV Bharat, Chhattisgarh Governor Anusuiya Uikey said that the tribals of the state are very innocent and due to the non-development of the state, Maoists of other states exploit them and promote violence and gun culture here.

Chhindwara: The Maoists of Odisha and Jharkhand manipulate the naive tribals of Chhattisgarh into violence and hand them guns, but now with the initiative of central and state government the gunmen are joining the mainstream jobs, claimed Chhattisgarh Governor Anusuiya Uikey.

Talking to ETV Bharat, the governor said that the tribals of the state are very innocent and due to the non-development of the state, Maoists of other states exploit them and promote violence and gun culture here.

The Governor who is in the state to celebrate Diwali added that governments from Raj Bhavan have been expressing concern from time to time for the marginalised tribals and efforts are being made to link them to the mainstream jobs in the state.

She had also written a letter to the CM of Madhya Pradesh on the alleged Naxalite incident in Balaghat.

A few days ago there was also a Naxalite attack in Balaghat which was alleged to be fake, then Anusuiya Uikey wrote a letter to the Chief Minister and asked for a fair investigation.

Anusuiya said that the Madhya Pradesh government has also constituted a committee on this and has also announced compensation to the victim's family. In this case, the committee will soon submit its report on what the truth is.

She added that since the central and state governments are working together during the Corona period the results are a bit slow.

Governor Anusuiya Uikey said that the state government and the Union Home Minister Amit Shah are trying to connect the Naxalites in Chhattisgarh with the mainstream, although the work has slowed down a bit during the Corona period but now again by providing basic amenities in the areas people will be connected to the mainstream so that people do not take the wrong path of violence and guns.

Governor Anusuiya Uikey said that in the last few months, it has been seen that in Chhattisgarh Maoists have started avoiding bloodshed after being connected to mainstream people and that a large number of Maoists are surrendering.

To keep the trend up, the government is also taking steps and trying to provide them with jobs and making the basic amenities available.
