Raipur: In the wake of the Chattisgarh Government's decision to abolish the maximum age limits, the number of students taking admission in colleges has increased by 48 per cent in State. According to Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, the decision taken by his government last year has also resulted in girls outnumbering boys in higher education in the state by 61 per cent.
Taking to Twitter the Chief Minister also said that 33 new colleges have been set up in the state in the span of four years. "Last year, we had decided to abolish the maximum age limit for admission in colleges and universities of the state. Now this result satisfies: 48% increase in the number of students, 61% more girls than boys in higher education, 33 new colleges opened in four years," tweeted Baghel.
Acting on its decision to bolster higher education infrastructure in the State, the Chattisgarh government has been setting up new colleges and courses on every major subject are being offered in these colleges.
State government officials said that a steady increase in the number of female students taking admission in colleges has come to the fore adding that this will provide a major boost to women's empowerment in the State.
According to State Government statistics, in 2018-19 about 2.36 lakh students took admitted in colleges, while in 2022-23 over 3.35 lakh students enrolled in colleges, registering an increase of 48 per cent. It is in an increase of over 1 lakh students taking admission into colleges that in 2018-19.
