"Six Naxals who have been murdered by their comrades included the names of Podium Vijja, Kamalu, Poonam, Sandeep, Santosh Hemla, and Dashami Mandavi," Bastar IG said.

"The Naxalites who talks about the welfare of their community and villages are much likely to surrender as in the long run they will be killed by their comrades following mutual conflicts as a punishment," he added.

"This leads to complex the controversy as either Naxalites will surrender or they will be killed at the hands of their own organisation," he asserted.

"Even locals are refraining themselves from supporting Naxals following which they are harmed by the evil elements of the society," he stated.

The Bastar IG also informed that in the last two decades, over 1700 villagers have been killed by the Naxals in Bastar, accusing them of being informers.

According to Bastar police, Naxalites have killed about 38 innocent villagers from January 1 to September 30 this year.

Meanwhile, Bastar police have claimed that in the past few months they have achieved success in the anti-Naxal operations and the police are getting aggressive against the Naxalites following which new police camps have also been set up this year.

The issue has also stirred the political environment with Leader of Opposition in the Chhattisgarh Assembly and senior BJP leader Dharamlal Kaushik alleging that the Naxalites in Bastar are reciprocating the statements of the government with bullets.

Kaushik also stated that there has been a consistent increase in Naxalite incidents in the state after Congress came to power. He alleged that the Congress government is a complete failure in curbing the Naxalite incidents and in taking any concrete step against these evils.
