Dubai: In the 14th match of Indian Premier League, Sunrisers Hyderabad batted first and scored 164 for 5 against Chennai Super Kings here at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Friday. Winning the toss, captain David Warner chose to bat first, but a poor batting by the top order came as a blow to them. However, IPL debutante Priyam Garg's late blitzkrieg helped SRH set a decent 165 runs target for CSK.

Garg, 19, scored 50 off 23 balls. He remained unbeaten on 51. Garg also shared a 77-run sixth-wicket partnership with Abhishek Sharma, who scored 31 off 24 balls. This much-required partnership lifted SRH's innings.

Batting first, SRH top order couldn't justify Warner's decision as they lost wickets at regular interval. In form, Jonny Bairstow, who has already scored two half-centuries, got out for a duck as Deepak Chahar rattled his stumps.

Down to 1 for 1, Manish Pandey, SRH's designated No. 3, and Warner forged a 46-run partnership to repair the wound of early damage. However, Shardul Thakur interrupted SRH's run flow removing Pandey for 29 (21) at Dubai International Stadium's slow wicket in the first delivery of the eighth over.

Warner was the next man to go. His slowly moving 29-ball 28-run knock came to end in the 11th over when Piyush Chawla struck for the first time in the match. In the very next ball, SRH suffered double whammy as they lost in-form Kane Williamson for nine runs.
