New Delhi: UK and Germany have issued a travel advisory discouraging its citizens from traveling to Jammu and Kashmir due to the recent security alert in the state and asked those staying in the Kashmir Valley or along the Amarnath Yatra pilgrimage route to leave the state.
The Foreign and Commonwealth Office of UK advised against travel to Jammu and Kashmir, with the exception of, travel within the city of Jammu, travel by air to the city of Jammu, and travel within the region of Ladakh.
It said that the British High Commission in New Delhi was monitoring the situation following reports that the J&K government had advised tourists and Amarnath Yatra pilgrims to curtail their stay in the Kashmir Valley immediately and take necessary measures to return home as soon because of security threats.
Germany said in its advisory, "Travel to Kashmir is strongly discouraged. Individual actions directed against foreigners, including abductions, cannot be ruled out in the entire region."
It asked citizens to "always follow the instructions of local authorities and security forces".
The state government advised the Amarnath Yatra pilgrims and tourists to leave the valley keeping in view the "latest intelligence inputs of terror threats".
