Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jairam Thakur, on his two-day visit to the national capital, met with Union ministers and the BJP national president and discussed a range of issues pertaining to the development of the state.

New Delhi: Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jairam Thakur on Sunday called on Union Railways Minister Piyush Goel and sought for hundred per cent central government's funding for the strategically important Bhanupali-Bilaspur-Leh railway line.

He said that the state has limited funds and requested for the complete funding by the Centre as the railway line is very important for the state as well as the country.

Thakur also urged for the expansion of the rail network in the state and identifying the new routes for railway lines.

He said that so far roads are the major mode of connectivity in the state, however, the state government is making efforts to strengthen air connectivity also.

He said that expansion of rail network is a long pending demand of the state and with the construction of Bhanupali-Bilaspur-Leh railway line, connectivity will be further strengthened in the state.

The Chief Minister also requested for support from centre for setting up of Bulk Drug Pharma Park in Una district.

He said that Himachal Pradesh is already a leader in drug production and is a pharmaceutical hub of the country and added that this project would be another feather in the cap for the state and would generate employment opportunities thereby boosting the industrial sector.

The Himachal CM also met Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and BJP National president JP Nadda on his two-day visit to the national capital.

Thakur discussed various issues pertaining to the state with Rajnath Singh and also sought support for setting up Bulk Drug Pharma Park in the state which would boost industrial growth in the state.

Thakur informed that he met Nadda and had a fruitful discussion regarding strengthening the party and the state.

In response to how much Himachal is suffering as trains are not operational due to protest by farmers in Punjab, Thakur stated that although the state is not suffering due to this but such kind of agitations do affect the economy at the place they take place.
