D K Shivakumar, the Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka, has appealed to the Election Commission for the release of Rs 4,663 crore from the National Disaster Response Fund and an additional support fund of Rs 18,171 crore to address the severe drought situation in the state, which has affected 224 out of 236 taluks.
