Taapsee Pannu wants do Sushma Swaraj biopic: Won't leave opportunity to play her on screen
Taapsee Pannu, who is promoting her upcoming film Mission Mangal, expressed her interest in doing a biopic on former Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj
The sudden death of former Minister of External Affairs and senior Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Sushma Swaraj on August 6, left the entire nation in shock and grief.
Sushma Swaraj was admitted to All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) New Delhi on Tuesday night, where she passed away after suffering a cardiac arrest. She
was 67 years old.
Not only did the political leaders of India mourn her demise, but Bollywood celebrities also remembered the late minister.
Taapsee Pannu, who is gearing up for the release of her upcoming film Mission Mangal, also condoled Sushma Swaraj's death. The actress revealed that she wants to do
a biopic on her, if a film is ever made on the politician.
In an interview with Navbharat Times, Taapsee said,"Parde par Sushma ji ko agar jeene ka mauka milega, toh kabhi nahin chhodungi. Itni mahaan aur behtareen neta ki
biopic kaun nahin karna chahega? (If I get the opportunity to play Sushma ji on the big screen, then I won't leave it. Who wouldn't want to do a biopic on such a great
leader?)"
Sharing her childhood memories of listening to Sushma Swaraj's speeches, Taapsee added,"Jab main school mein padhti thi aur TV par Sushma ji ka bhaashan sunti thi,
to ruk jaati thi. Ek neta aur behtareen insaan ke taur par main Sushma ji ki fan hoon aur humesh rahoongi. (When I used to study in school, I used to stop to hear Sushma
ji's speeches on television. She was a good human being and great politician. I am her fan and will always be)"
Sushma Swaraj was cremated with full state honours at the Lodhi Road crematorium, New Delhi on August 7. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP President Amit Shah,
former Member of Parliament LK Advani and many other politicians bade farewell to the late politician.
Sushma Swaraj has several achievements to her credit, in her political career spanning more than four decades. She was the youngest Cabinet minister of Haryana at the
age of 25 in 1977. She also became the first woman Chief Minister of Delhi in 1998. She served as the Minister of External Affairs of India during the first term of Prime
Minister Narendra Modi in office, from 2014 to 2019.
Meanwhile, Taapsee's upcoming film Mission Mangal is scheduled to release on August 15 (Independence Day) and will clash with John Abraham's Batla House at the
box office. The film also stars Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan, Sonakshi Sinha, Nithya Menen and Sharman Joshi in lead roles.
Mission Mangal is based on the story of the scientists of Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), who contributed to the country's first interplanetary expedition, Mars
Orbiter Mission (MOM).
Taapsee Pannu will be also be seen in Anurag Kashyap's production Saand Ki Aankh, alongside Bhumi Pednekar. She is playing the role of Chandro Tomar, one of the
oldest sharpshooters in the world, while Bhumi will play her sister-in-law Prakashi Tomar.
The film will hit the screens on October 25.

ಸುಷ್ಮಾ ಸ್ವರಾಜ್ ಅವರ ಬಯೋಪಿಕ್ ಆಗಲಿದೆ ಎನ್ನುವ ಸುದ್ದಿಯೊಂದು ಬಾಲಿವುಡ್ ಅಂಗಳದಲ್ಲಿ ಸದ್ದು ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದೆ. ಚಿತ್ರ ತೆರೆಗೆ ತರಲು ಯಾರಾದರೂ ಮುಂದೆ ಬರುವುದಾದರೆ ನಾನು ಅವರ (ಸುಷ್ಮಾ ಸ್ವರಾಜ್) ಪಾತ್ರ ನಿಭಾಯಿಸುವುದಾಗಿ ಬಹುಭಾಷಾ ನಟಿ ತಾಪ್ಸಿ ಪನ್ನು ತಮ್ಮ ಮನದಾಳದ ಅನಿಸಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ಹೊರಹಾಕಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
