Clogged pores or related issues are considered to be the main reason behind various skin problems. Our expert Meenu Verma explains that pollution, weather, makeup and improper skin cleansing results in clogged pores, which further causes problems like pimples, acne and blackheads.

At the same time, stress or there is more sebum production can also be responsible for skin-related issues. Also, because of the chemicals present in the water, sunlight, hormonal disorders and unhealthy diet, toxins begin to accumulate in the body and skin, giving rise to many problems.

In such a situation, skin detox becomes necessary to have clean skin. Skin detox not only improves our hydration level, but it controls the body temperature and tries to reduce sensitivity.

How To Detox?

  1. Drink A Lot Of Water
    For detoxification, the most important thing is to drink a lot of water to get rid of the toxins in the body. For this, drink at least 8 glasses of water in a day. Besides this, you can drink herbal tea, green tea, or lemon tea.
  2. Detox Diet
    It is crucial to adopt healthy eating habits for a skin detox. Have a balanced diet and eat your meals at the right time. During skin detox, abstain from foods that are naturally acidic in nature. Along with this, include banana, pears, lemon, almond and apple in your diet.
  3. Get A Facial
    During detox, facial too is important for skin cleansing. Since it involves steam, exfoliation, cleansing and massage, the skin gets cleaned for more than just the upper layers and pores are opened. For skin detoxification, clay facial, oxygen facial, charcoal facial or serum facial are considered beneficial.
  4. Detox Bath
    Detox baths can work wonders for your skin. It helps remove toxins not just from the body, but the skin as well provides relief to the muscles and improves the blood circulation in the body. For a detox bath, have lukewarm water in a tub, add rock salt, olive oil, green tea bags/essential oil to it and immerse your body in this water for a few minutes.

Meenu Verma says that if skin detox is done on a regular basis and is added to the skincare routine, it helps in getting rid of numerous skin problems, makes the skin glow, reduces wrinkles and makes the skin look younger than before. Along with this, one needs to remember that if you are having pimples on the skin, do not touch it or pop it. Also, go for facial or other skin treatments that suit your skin type.
