The day was established in the year 2014 by the International Coffee Organisation (ICO) and was celebrated for the first time in 2015 in Milan.

The day acknowledges the hard work of the farmers and all the people associated with the coffee industry, who provide us various types of coffee, produced after a lengthy process.

Coffee production has increased over time around the globe, despite the hazardous effects it has on health. However, if taken in a moderate amount, coffee can be beneficial for health too. Here are a few ways in which coffee can be healthy:

  • Coffee contains a natural stimulant called Caffeine, which is helpful in increasing energy levels and fighting fatigue.
  • It betters physical performance

Apart from this, there have been many studies that have linked coffee to certain health conditions in a positive manner. Research published in the journal Stroke, also found daily coffee consumption helps heart attack survivors by lowering their risk of death after a heart attack and can prevent heart attacks or strokes in healthy individuals.

Therefore, coffee consumption in moderate amounts can be very beneficial for health, but overdoing its consumption can be very harmful. Coffee is also restricted from the diet or is allowed in only a limited amount in certain conditions such as anxiety disorders. Thus, it is important to check with your medical expert first in case of such conditions.

We wish you a Happy International Coffee Day! Kick start your day with a cup brewed with love and happiness.
