Bangladesh government has been accused of human rights violation after a 70-year-old man has been illegally kept in a Bangladeshi jail for eight months even after being released by a trial court. The trial court ruled in his and his wife's favour on February 23, 2020, but the man wasn't released.

Malda (West Bengal): Bangladesh government has been accused of human rights violation as 70 years old Qadir Sheikh, a resident of Malda, West Bengal has been imprisoned in a Bangladeshi jail for eight months, despite being released in a court trial. Human rights activists and lawyers in the district, including the old man's wife, have accused the neighbouring country's government of human rights violation. They have demanded the immediate return of Qadir to India.

Qadir is a resident of Chak Mailpur, Shamshani village under Vaishnavnagar police station. The Indo-Bangladesh border passes through this village. On September 19, 2017, the soldiers of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), Bangladesh arrested Qadir Sheikh and his wife Aleknur Bibi from their house.
