Customs seize gold worth Rs 2.05 cr at Chennai Airport, 4 held

Gold worth Rs 2.5 crore was seized by the customs department at Chennai airport on Sunday. Four persons were also arrested in regard with this matter.

Chennai: Customs at Chennai airport seized gold worth Rs 2.05 crore and arrested four persons in separate cases of seizure on Sunday. Further probe into the matters is underway.

Earlier in the day, four passengers were arrested under the Customs Act after officials seized 4.46 kilograms gold worth Rs 1.87 crore was seized from Chennai international airport.

According to the Commissioner of Customs of Chennai airport, three passengers -- Raja, Karthikeyan and Thameem Ansari -- had arrived from Colombo in Sri Lanka on Friday night. All three were intercepted at the exit point.
