The average gold content in the ores is 0.06 per cent

A gold mine with traces of silver and copper has been found near Thanagazi village in Rajasthan's Alwar district. Though the initial plan was to auction the mine, the pending survey has delayed proceedings.

Alwar (Rajasthan): In what could be a significant finding, a gold mine has been discovered near Thanagazi village in Rajasthan's Alwar district.

According to reports, the Geological Survey of India is currently in the process of surveying the mine at Mundiyawas-Khera near Thanagazi. In the past nine years, around 12 sq km of the mine has been surveyed.

The average gold content in the ores is 0.06 per cent

According to geologists, the average gold content in the ores is 0.06 per cent, which is a very small amount compared to other ores. It is believed that the government has not paid much attention to the mine due to the low gold content.

According to reports, the initial plan was to put up the mine for auction. However, since the survey has not yet been completed, the auction was put off.

Geologists opine that till complete information of the ore is not available, mining may not be an economically viable option owing to the high costs related to gold mining.

They added that other than gold, traces of silver and copper were also found in the reserve, and the mine could potentially open up a host of job opportunities for the locals.

However, authorities are tight-lipped about the mine as the government has not made any official announcement regarding the same.
