MET ALERT: Another cyclone looms over Arabian Sea, Gujarat

In the latest update of Cyclone Gulab, the IMD had informed that the deep depression over north Andhra Pradesh and adjoining south Odisha (remnant of cyclonic storm Gulab) moved westwards and could emerge in the northeast Arabian Sea and adjoining Gujarat coast around September 30

New Delhi: In a rare weather event, Cyclone Gulab will remerge in another form in the Arabian Sea in the next two to three days, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). It further added that it is likely that the remnant of Cyclone Gulab could emerge in the northeast Arabian Sea and adjoining Gujarat coast around September 30.

The IMD had also informed that the deep depression over north Andhra Pradesh and adjoining south Odisha (remnant of cyclonic storm Gulab) moved westwards and weakened into a depression and will turn into a well-marked low-pressure area in the next 24 hours. "Scattered low and medium clouds with embedded intense to very intense convection layover southeast Arabian sea and Comorin region," the weather department said.

The IMD predicted on Tuesday that heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely at isolated places over the Gujarat region, Maharashtra, Konkan and heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places over Marathwada, Saurashtra and Kutch.
