Bhopal: The Special Task Force (STF) of West Bengal police arrested two persons suspected to be terrorists from Bhopal. According to sources, recently some youths were arrested from Bankra and South 24 Parganas of Howrah for the same reason. After interrogation, they were arrested from Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh on Wednesday. The arrested were brought to the state on transit remand on Thursday.
Preliminary investigations by the STF suggest that the arrested frequently changed their names to escape arrest. It is also learnt that earlier these two youths rented a house in the Domjur Police Station area of Howrah. But the two fled as soon as they got wind that police were looking for them. From Howrah, they went straight to Bhopal.
According to police sources, one of the arrested is Jahiluddin Ali alias Ilyas Mohan Patra aka Holiullah Milan nee Ilyas Ibrahim. Second one is Ali Abedin alias Akramul Haque. The two accused were produced in the Howrah court on Thursday. The judge ordered both to be sent to police custody for 12 days. In this incident, public prosecutor Somnath Banerjee said that the duo is accused of being involved in anti-India activities and terrorism. A case has been registered against them under the specific section of UAPA. It may be recalled that the STF arrested two suspected militants from the Bankra police station area of Howrah a few months ago. Among those arrested was a local Madrasa teacher.
