Madhya Pradesh: Accused COVID-19 patient absconds from hospital

A person who was arrested by police for pelting stones at doctors in Indore had reportedly gone missing from Jabalpur Medical College. Earlier, he was tested positive for COVID-19.

Jabalpur: A person who was admitted to the Jabalpur Medical College in Madhya Pradesh after he exhibited symptoms of coronavirus had reportedly gone missing.

The absconded patient has been identified as Javed of Indore. He was arrested by police for pelting stone on doctors at Indore.

According to Jabalpur police, some days ago, police have arrested some people from Indore's Tat Patti area for pelting stones at doctors. Among them, as many as four accused persons were admitted to Indore DHH. Later, they were shifted to Jabalpur DHH.

Initially, these people were kept in the isolation ward of Jabalpur DHH, from where samples of these four accused were tested for the coronavirus, police said.

After the test report came, Javed was found corona positive. The accused was admitted to the isolation ward of the Medical College Hospital for treatment, police added.

However, taking advantage of the security guards' absence, Javed broke the lock and absconded from the hospital today.

Meanwhile, a formal complaint was lodged by the District Health Department with the Jabalpur police. The cops have launched an investigation into the case to nab the escapee.

Reportedly, Jabalpur SP has launched a manhunt to nab the accused person and announced a reward of Rs 10,000 on the escapee.
