A minor dispute in Karond village under Bajrangarh police station limits claimed the life of a Dalit man. He was beaten to death with wooden planks for giving a matchbox to the assailants.

Guna (Madhya Pradesh): A man belonging to Dalit community at Karond village under Bajrangarh police station limits in Madhya Pradesh's Guna district was beaten to death over a minor dispute on Friday night.

According to police, the accused persons identified as Yash Yadav and Ankesh Yadav of the same village killed Lalji. The incident took place at around 10 PM on Friday.

On Friday evening, the accused persons sought a matchbox from Lalji to light cigarettes. Lalji responded to them that he did not smoke cigarettes and did not have matchbox. An argument started between the youths and the Dalit man which soon turned into a heated argument, police said.

Following this, Lajli was initially chased by the accused and later they hit him from behind after which he fell down and started running. After chasing him further, both the accused hit him on the head with a wooden plank killing him on the spot and left from the place.

On being informed about the incident, locals rushed Lalji to Shivpuri Medical College where he succumbed to his injuries.

Police have launched a manhunt to nab the accused. Further investigation is underway.

Meanwhile, MLA Gopilal Jatav said such incidents should not happen. He said that the police have arrested both the accused. Home Minister Narottam Mishra also directed the Superintendent of Police to take immediate action.
