Sobha Vishwanath, a young entrepreneur from Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala, was trapped in a narcotic case by her former friend for turning down his marriage proposal. However, the Crime Branch has given her a clean chit.

Thiruvananthapuram: A woman entrepreneur in Kerala's Thiruvananthapuram was finally able to breathe easy with the police giving her a clean chit in a narcotic case in which she was falsely implicated. Police probe revealed that the woman identified as Sobha Vishwanath was trapped in the case by her former friend for turning down his marriage proposal.

It was on January 21 this year, police seized ganja from her establishment 'Weaver's village' at Vazhuthacad in Thiruvananthapuram. Sobha, one of the foremost faces of women entrepreneurs in the state, was arrested in connection with the incident but was released on station bail. She then approached Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan seeking justice. Following this, the investigation of the case was handed over to the Crime Branch.

Further investigation into the case revealed that Sobha was framed in the case by her former friend for rejecting his proposal. According to police report, Harish Haridas, CEO of Lords hospital in Thiruvananthapuram, trapped Shobha in the narcotic case by planting ganja in her shop with the help of her former employee identified as Vivek Raj. Educated in the UK, Harish is the son of Padma Shri Dr KP Haridas, who is the owner of Lords hospital.

Speaking to ETV Bharat, Sobha Vishwanath said she feels relieved that the truth is out and the police have cleared her of all charges. "What men-be it husband, lover or friend- need to understand is 'no' means 'no'. They should understand and respect it. I had turned down his proposal two years ago. I can't believe that he was hatching a plot to trap me all this while just because I said no," Sobha said.

"I still can't get over things that happened in the last few months. I still live in that fear. I don't know what is awaiting me. But I wanted to fight this for all women out there. I have been getting a lot of calls and messages from women sharing their stories," she added.
