For just Rs 25,000 per assembly constituency, the accused company is offering voters' information, name, address, caste and which party the voter supported last time and which party they will support this time, sources said.

Bengaluru: Another case has surfaced in the city after the Chilume organization case of illegal collection of voters' personal information. A company selling information to election candidates in a similar fashion has emerged in Bengaluru, police said on Thursday. At present, the name of the company has not been revealed by the police to maintain confidentiality.

If any candidate pays Rs 25 thousand, the company will give information about voters in that constituency. An FIR has been registered in the cybercrime station of the South East Division against an anonymous website and app company that said it would sell the information of millions of voters for just 25 thousand, police said.

The company was collecting complete details of voters. Later, it is known that using a separate app, the voter's information, name, address, caste, which party the voter supported last time and which party they will support this time, was given to the respective candidates.

The company used to put the mobile number of voters on its website. If you pay 25 thousand rupees, they will give you a login ID. The information of about 6 lakh voters is with this company. An investigation is going on whether it is the voter list of a particular constituency or the information of another constituency, police said.

'Candidates will get a welcome message as soon as they open this website. Then they are lured to get information about voters of the constituency by paying a service fee of Rs 25,000. The contesting candidates are being trapped with an irresistible offer about voters' data that is needed to win the election. This company also says that if the candidate loses, the money will be returned,' police have informed.

'An FIR has been registered based on a complaint filed by an independent candidate named Raju who came to know about all this. A case has been registered in CEN Police Station, South East Division. Is the election survey done by the company? How did they get so much data? An investigation is being carried out as to who is behind this,' police said.

Last year, a case of alleged theft of voter information by the Chilume organization came to light. Probing into the alleged voter data theft case, police arrested the main accused and co-founder of the Chilume Educational Cultural and Rural Development Institute (Chilume Trust) Krishnappa Ravikumar.
