Haryana Congress take out a fury march from Panipat to Lakhimpur Kheri

The protest march started at 8 am from Sanjay Chowk, Panipat with top Congress leaders. State Congress Committee claimed that a convoy of thousands of vehicles have participated in the protest.

Panipat: Protesting against the Lakhimpur incident, Haryana Congress has taken out a fury march from Panipat to Lakhimpur Kheri via Shamli on Thursday. The protest was supported by top Congress leaders including Haryana Congress in-charge Vivek Bansal, State President Kumari Selja, Leader of Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda.

The protest march started at 8 am from Sanjay Chowk, Panipat with top Congress leaders. State Congress Committee claimed that a convoy of thousands of vehicles have participated in the protest.

Speaking on the behalf of Congress party, state Congress president Kumari Selja condemned the Lakhimpur Kheri incident and demanded the arrest of Ashish Mishra Teni son of Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Ajay Mishra Teni.

She also demanded investigation into the violent incident under a sitting judge of the Supreme Court and also sought removal of Ajay Mishra Teni and Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya from their posts.

On Sunday, four farmers died after two SUVs allegedly ran over a group of anti-farm law protesters who were demonstrating against a visit of Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya. Eight people were killed in the violence. While four of the deceased were farmers, the remaining were in a convoy of BJP workers who were lynched. Two FIRs have been registered in connection with Sunday's violence.

Ashish Mishra, the son of Union Minister of State for Home Ajay Mishra, is among those booked by police. The Uttar Pradesh government on Monday announced that a retired High Court judge will probe the Lakhimpur Kheri violence and that the families of the four farmers killed in the incident will be given Rs 45 lakh compensation each.
